My-Self...I first found my way to the mat in 2006 drawn in equally from the physical and spiritual aspects that yoga provided. My mind became clearer and more peaceful as I practiced; I experienced waves of pure bliss surge through my entire self. My body seemed made to move through the asana (poses) naturally but there were plenty of challenges to keep the A-typical or “Pitta” (as Auyrveda would describe) driven side of me wanting more. I sought out certification after one year of my own practice because I knew that I wanted to share this gift with others. As a teacher it is not important to me how someone finds their way to the mat. The fact that they are there is enough to insure that they will receive the same benefits that I attribute to my happiness and well being every day. |

My heart lies in the invigorating style of Vinyasa. The breath synchronized “flow” style works to build internal heat through movement to build strength and flexibility. Connecting body and mind through breath allow me to tune out all other distractions and embody the yoga. Using Tantric teachings of energetics I carefully sequence poses incorporating breath work and meditation to find balance and harmony with the body and energies that surround me. In anticipation of becoming pregnant I set my thesis topic for certification on prenatal yoga. I studied intensively with some of Chicago’s finest prenatal teachers and am forever grateful for the skills they have provided me. I enjoyed the experience of teaching prenatal yoga throughout my first pregnancy in 2007 and again in 2010 as I can confidently support seasoned and newer students in this extremely beneficial practice. I constantly look for ways to deepen, enhance and embrace the experiences life gives me and yoga provides me with the tools to do that. From my practice I gain wisdom about myself which helps me better understand the my world. I equally love the challenges and accomplishments that yoga provides. In a world of perpetual opposition it is my goal to bring awareness and balance through this great practice. |
| My
Background...I was first
introduced to yoga in 2002 through my study and practice of Thai
Massage. My yoga practice truly developed when I used it to cross train
for the Chicago marathon in 2006, which left me hooked and searching for
a more in depth understanding.
My training with Daren Friesen at Moksha Yoga Center in 2007 gave me exactly that, alignment and philosophy with focus on Ashtanga and Vinyasa styles. Workshops with other master teachers such as Tias Little and Aadil Palkhivala have deepened my insight on this amazing practice. After completing Jim Bennitt’s training and a workshop with Master Teacher Rod Stryker on the Tantric style of Vinyasa I gained a deeper awareness of the energetic effects attainable through yoga. My Goal...We all have teachers in life but the master teacher is life itself…it is you, your intuitive self. As a yoga teacher I don’t intend to be your spiritual teacher or to jam your body into a certain shape. My goal is to plant little seeds that might feed your own intuition and bring you awareness into new possibilities. I work to make yoga accessible to everyone no matter how you came to the practice. Whether it is the energetic qualities of yoga that intrigue you or the physical challenges that drive you, in my classes you can expect creative and smart sequencing that leave ou feeling balanced. As a teacher I strive to bring the simple and beautiful benefits that yoga gives me to others, a feeling of Ananda..."Ultimate Bliss" |
